YouTuber with over 3 million subscribers killed in crash on I-25 near Fort Collins

DENVER (KDVR) — The Colorado State Patrol said Tuesday that popular YouTube personality and Colorado resident Benny Potter, 40, was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 25 near from Fort Collins.

The crash occurred on Saturday, June 8 at approximately 9:19 a.m. on southbound I-25 near mile marker 267.5.


According to CSP, Potter was in her silver Toyota 4Runner when she left the right shoulder of the highway.

Potter continued to cross the frontage road, parallel to the highway, before the vehicle rolled several times. CSP said Potter was wearing his seat belt but succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. He was alone in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved.

Potter ran a popular YouTube channel, Comicstorian, which had 3.02 million subscribers.

His wife, Nathalie, published the news on Monday on the social platform X.

“Ben has spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies,” the announcement reads. “It was his love of compelling stories and well-written characters that got him started on YouTube.”

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, but the CSP said there is no indication that impairment or excessive speed were involved.
