XDefiant double XP is here to help level weapons quickly, but advance quickly

If you're thinking about jumping into Ubisoft's new free FPS XDefiant soon you'll want to hear that there's an extra long double XP weekend happening right now. Combining multiple series like Far Cry, Splinter Cell, The Division, and Watch Dogs into one multiplayer first-person shooter, XDefiant is poised to take the Call of Duty crown. But with Black Ops 6 on the way and XDefiant still in its early stages, this double XP weekend is trying to get more people to play.

After a launch day marked by an epidemic of disconnections, the dust is starting to settle on XDefiant. Ubisoft's FPS game has several ways to earn weapons and XP types to get you figured out, but if you jump in now, you'll progress through one of them at least twice as fast.

We have double Weapon XP for the next few days, so you can get attachments for the weapons you unlock by completing challenges and the XDefiant battle pass. It's a bit confusing, but just know that by using a weapon in matches you'll get more customization options, with the double XP helping you do it much faster for a few days.

While you're using each of the weapons, you'll also want to review the XDefiant factions, because choosing between the guys from Far Cry or the agents from Splinter Cell isn't just for show – each has their own passive traits and abilities.

The XDefiant Double XP Long Weekend runs until Tuesday May 28 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST (4am AEDT Wednesday May 29). Keep in mind that this is only weapon XP and therefore attachment unlocking, while standard profile XP and battle pass XP are separate. Either way, the free double XP is a good thing.
