Work to close highway ramps, causing detours near Wright-Patterson, part of $2.52 million project in Ohio

They will be carried out this summer and fall while the third phase should start in spring 2025, ODOT said.

The closure of the ramp from south of Ohio 4 to north of Ohio 444, which began May 20 and will last approximately four months, is necessary to complete concrete and joint repairs on the ramp, according to the ODOT.

Traffic will detour using Ohio 4 to Harshman Road, then Ohio 4 to Ohio 444, state officials said.

“We encourage drivers to take a few extra minutes into their commute when passing through work zones,” ODOT spokeswoman Loryn Bryson said in an email. “We are asking everyone to slow down and be attentive in this area as workers are present.”

Through mid-April, according to the state, the number of accidents in which ODOT crews were affected stood at 43. This is a significant increase, since the number of crews affected in 2023 for the entire year was 56, officials said.

Ohio 444 is also experiencing inside lane closures at the Ohio 4 interchange that are expected to last about two months, according to ODOT. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction as crews work on the bridge, according to the state.

The second phase of the project, which will also close the ramps for about two months each, is expected to begin in mid-summer and finish in the fall, ODOT officials said.

The south Ohio 444 ramp to south Ohio 4 and the north Ohio 444 ramp to north Ohio 4 will both be closed at this time, according to ODOT.
