Woman who died near Horsetail Falls identified

ALPINE, Utah — The Utah County Sheriff's Office has identified the hiker who died Friday near Horsetail Falls. Authorities believe Cynthia Ann Grimwood, 19, of Springville, Utah, died after being swept into a river.

According to Sgt. Spencer Cannon with UCSO, video on Grimwood's phone indicated she was in the area with her dog enjoying the outdoors.

Grimwood was reported missing Friday. Cannon said two hikers came across Grimwood's dog and belongings that afternoon.

Cannon previously said the dog was returned to the Grimwood family after its discovery.

Authorities found Grimwood's body the night she was reported missing, but were not able to recover it until Saturday due to safety concerns.
