Woman who allegedly stole flowers from cemetery arrested on drug charges

A woman who witnesses said was stealing flowers from a local cemetery was arrested Wednesday morning on misdemeanor drug charges after Hot Springs police allegedly found methamphetamine in her purse.

Heather Justine Simons, 34, listing an address on Potter Street, was arrested shortly after 8 a.m. and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, punishable by up to to six years in prison, and she committed a crime. warrant for failure to appear.

Simons, who lists no criminal history, was being held on $3,500 bail and is scheduled to appear in Garland County District Court today.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 7:30 a.m., HSPD Officer 1st Class Tyler Barrett went to Friendship Cemetery, 320 Hollywood Ave., regarding a white female ” suspect” who was allegedly seen approaching different graves and stealing flowers.

The woman was described as having blonde hair and wearing “short shorts” and a pink shirt. He located a woman, later identified as Simons, matching the description, standing in front of a grave.

Simons allegedly told Barrett that she “admired the graves.” A computer check revealed the warrant for her arrest and so she was taken into custody. While searching her, police allegedly found a small baggie in her purse containing 1.1 grams of what later tested positive for methamphetamine.
