Woman threatens Dunkin' employees in Maine with gun after being banned from using phone, police say

A Maine woman was arrested after pointing a semi-automatic weapon at Dunkin' employees after being refused entry inside the closed location to use the phone, police said. Rumford, Maine, police said after 8 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Dunkin' on Congress Street for a 911 called report of a woman with a gun threatening an employee. A Maine woman was arrested after pointing a semi-automatic weapon at Dunkin' employees after being refused entry to the closed location to use the phone, police said.

Rumford, Maine, police said after 8 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to the Dunkin' on Congress Street for a 911 called report of a woman with a gun threatening an employee.

The person reported that the woman approached the drive-thru window at closing time and pointed a semi-automatic weapon at the employee after her request to be allowed into the location closed to use the phone was refused, police said.

The woman was identified as Rebecca Sims, 33, of Mexico, Maine, police said.

Before noon Thursday, the Maine State Police tactical team surrounded her home and ordered her out at gunpoint, and she was arrested, police said.

Police searched the home and seized four firearms, including the semi-automatic pistol believed to have been used in the crime, police said. There were also several loaded magazines, a hatchet, a bowie knife and a machete, police said.

Sims was charged with felony menacing with a dangerous weapon and threatening to display a weapon, police said.
