Woman stabbed multiple times for no apparent reason near Mira Mesa ATM – San Diego Union-Tribune

A woman was stabbed multiple times and without warning Saturday morning while standing near a Mira Mesa ATM, according to San Diego police.

Although injured “in the neck, left shoulder and chin”, the 30-year-old man is expected to survive. Officer David O'Brien said his attacker was still at large.

The attack happened just before 10 a.m.

The woman was standing outside a vehicle near an ATM on Mira Mesa Boulevard, across from Mira Mesa High School, according to the watch commander's log.

A man approached. Police said he was white, with brown hair, of “medium build” and appeared to be between 20 and 30 years old. He wore a long-sleeved gray shirt and “stretch pants with multi-colored flowers.”

The man did not demand money, according to the release. He simply walked up to the ATM and hit the woman with a sharp object. Then he pushed her to the ground and continued to stab her.

The woman was kicking and screaming. Other people in the parking lot rushed over. The man fled.

“The suspect made no statements or demands before or during the attack,” police said.

An ambulance took the woman to a nearby hospital. Authorities asked anyone with information about the incident to call 888-580-8477.
