Woman stabbed in torso during 'large fight' at Lincoln's Railyard, police say

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A woman was stabbed Sunday morning during a fight in downtown Lincoln, police say.

Around 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Railyard following a report of a “large fight” and that a person had been struck by a vehicle.

Police said officers attempted to stop Danny Barfield Jr., 28, who was in his vehicle at Canopy and R streets.

Barfield did not stop, but was taken into custody after getting stuck in traffic on the road, police said.

He was arrested on suspicion of fleeing to avoid arrest and cited on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and refusing to submit to a chemical test.

Another person, a 33-year-old man, was also taken into custody. He was charged on suspicion of failing to disperse.

Officers later spoke with a 25-year-old woman at a hospital who said she had been stabbed during the fight.

Police said she had three puncture wounds to her torso. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
