Woman pleads guilty to shooting Cameron County prosecutor, sentenced to state prison

A Cameron County woman pleaded guilty to aggravated assault for shooting Cameron County Prosecutor Paul J. Malizia in Malizia's office last year.

Porice D. Mincy, 32, pleaded guilty Monday in Cameron County Court and was sentenced to 4 to 8 years in prison. Senior Judge Pamela Ruest presided over the plea and sentencing.

The Attorney General's Office has filed charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police following the June 14, 2023, shooting.

Malizia was treated at an area hospital and released the same day.

“This brazen act of violence is particularly disturbing because it involves an armed individual shooting an elected official sworn to serve and protect his community,” said Attorney General Henry. “I commend Prosecutor Malizia for his continued commitment to his community despite this traumatic attack. »

On June 14, 2023, Mincy showed up at Malizia's private office without an appointment to make inquiries regarding a property transfer that Malizia had processed. After arriving at the office, Mincy became belligerent. During the altercation, Mincy shot Malizia in the leg and fled the scene.

According to the investigation, Mincy targeted Malizia because of a dispute over his private law practice, not because he was a district attorney.
