Woman kills man, stabs another in OC gang attack: police

ANAHEIM, Calif. — A 24-year-old woman accused of fatally shooting one man and stabbing another in a gang-related attack was arrested over the weekend, police said.

Officers responded to the 800 block of West Cottonwood Circle in Anaheim around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a shooting. Before officers arrived, witnesses transported two victims to a local hospital, according to Anaheim police.

José Andres Abrego, 30, who suffered from at least one gunshot wound, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim, an unidentified man, was stabbed at least once and is expected to survive his injuries, police said.

The suspect, Jannett Cureno, fled the scene before police arrived. Police located and arrested her around 1 p.m. Saturday in Santa Ana, in the 300 block of Newhope Street, police said.

Cureno was booked into the Anaheim Detention Center and was being held on $1 million bail, police said.
