RED BLUFF—The Tehama County Sheriff's Coroner's Office has released the name of the woman who was killed by a train on May 23.

It was Kelly Fontan, 36 years old. According to the coroner, Fontan had been in Tehama County for about a year.

The Red Bluff Police Department said they learned about Fontan after being contacted by Union Pacific dispatch about a train hitting a pedestrian.

Officers responded to the railroad tracks near the area of ​​South Main Street and Montgomery Road, where they found Fontan, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to RBPD, a Union Pacific train was traveling southbound in the area where Fontan was located on the westbound tracks. Union Pacific conductors stopped the train and cooperated during the investigation. A witness described hearing the train horn.

A deputy coroner attended the scene and took possession of Fontan.
