Woman jumps from moving car in E. Portland, suspected kidnapper arrested

PORTLAND Oregon (KPTV) – PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A woman is safe and recovering from her injuries after bravely escaping a kidnapper by jumping from a moving car Friday, according to the Portland Police Bureau.

On Friday, around 1:40 p.m., police received a 911 call about a woman screaming and running near 112th Avenue Southeast and Lincoln Street Southeast. When they arrived, they found the woman hiding in an alley.

The 47-year-old woman told police the man, a stranger, stopped her car near 146th Avenue Southeast and Division Street Southeast and offered her a ride home. She agreed and when they arrived at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Division Street, she opened her door to go out. The man then ran away, preventing her from leaving.

The woman then began to physically fight the man while he was driving and he punched her in the face. Eventually, at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Lincoln Street, she was able to jump from the moving car and flee. She was injured in a fall, but was able to run.

Police said the man fled. But not for long. At 2:21 a.m. Saturday, an officer spotted a car matching the description the woman had given police and stopped it near Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Beech Street.

Ra Fet, 25, was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse, coercion, menacing, fourth-degree assault, reckless driving and recklessly endangering a other person.
