Woman injured and gunman identified – NBC Boston

A Brockton, Massachusetts, man has pleaded not guilty to charges that he shot and seriously injured a woman in a city apartment early Sunday, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office said.

Jonathan Alves, 27, appeared in Plymouth District Court on Monday where he pleaded not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, battery with a dangerous weapon, battery, battery, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, carrying a firearm without a license and firearm violation with prior violent/drug crime. He was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing.

Brockton Police received a 911 call around 1:42 a.m. Sunday for a report of shots heard in the area of ​​Falconer Avenue near Ash Street. Responding officers found a 31-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. She was taken to Boston Medical Center for treatment; officials did not share his condition.

After their investigation began, police requested and obtained an arrest warrant for Alves and he was taken into custody.

Two other people also face charges in connection with the shooting: Naldo Barbosa, 26, who faces a charge of illegal possession of ammunition, and Aylson Correia Castro, who faces a charge of illegal possession of ammunition and on another weapons charge.
