Woman identified in fatal single-vehicle crash near Vermillion

VERMILLION, SD (KCAU) — Authorities have released the identity of a woman who was fatally injured in a car crash in Clay County on Wednesday.

According to a release, Maize Lynn Ihnen, 22, of Vermillion, was heading north on SD Highway 19 when the crash occurred.

The release says Ihnen had just crossed into Nebraska/South Dakota and was approaching a curve when the vehicle entered the east ditch and jumped over an approach into the field, then rolled.

Ihnen was not wearing her seat belt when the crash occurred and was fatally injured, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
