Woman found shot to death in car on Mall Parkway in Stonecrest identified by family

The woman shot and killed along Mall Parkway near a Walmart store in Stonecrest has been identified.

The shooting happened in the 8400 block of Mall Parkway, near Turner Hill Road.

Shortly before 7:30 a.m., officers found a vehicle that appeared to have left the road and struck a light pole and electrical box. Inside the car, they found a woman who had been shot several times.

A witness told police he heard gunshots and saw a man running from the scene.

A pink tarp covered the vehicle as investigators canvassed the area for evidence.

“I love Sabrina. She's my heart,” said Brian Johnson, her nephew.

Johnson told FOX 5 Atlanta the woman's first name was Sabrina and she was around 55 years old.

“I received the phone call less than an hour after it happened. I had a nephew who happened to be here in the parking lot at the time. She's also his aunt. He was witnessed,” Johnson said.

He also indicated that she may have had a relationship with a 25-year-old man.

“Sabrina was a loving person. From what I understand, this guy needed a lot of help. Housing and work wise. She took him in,” Johnson said.

“It's a horrible thing that happened. She took someone in and gave them everything. For them to turn around and pay her back like that,” Johnson added.

As police continue to figure out what happened, family members are working to understand why this happened to a genuine and kind person.

“She was so generous and so open that a lot of people took advantage of it. It was one of those situations,” Johnson said.

Police have not released any additional information about the victim or potential suspect at this time.

The shooting does not appear to have any connection to Walmart.
