North Carolina woman convicted of reselling guns to people who are prohibited from buying them, officials say

SOLDIERS SAY A FATAL ACCIDENT OCCURRED ON JERUSALEM ROAD NEAR COUNTRYSIDE DRIVE WHICH IS NEAR JONES VILLE. Police say it was just before 2 p.m. yesterday. We're told one person died and they were the only person(s) inside the vehicle. Troopers say the crash occurred as one vehicle was traveling north on Jerusalem Road and another was traveling south. Police say the vehicles collided head-on. THE DRIVER OF THE NORTHBOUND VEHICLE WAS INJURED AND EVENTED TO A NEARBY HOSPITAL. THIS IS AN ONGOING INVESTIGATION. U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina Dena King announced Thursday the sentencing of a Charlotte woman who was convicted of trafficking firearms without a license. (Video above: WYFF News 4 Morning Headlines 5.30) According to court records, U.S. Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents discovered that between February 2020 and August 2021, Kayrin English, 21, had applied for 36 permits to purchase firearms. In September 2021, the English also requested seven permits to purchase firearms. ATF agents approached English when she went to collect the seven licenses to conduct a consensual interview. During the interview, English told agents that she would obtain the permits and use them to purchase firearms, which she would then resell for a profit to people who could not purchase their own firearms .More: Deputy, wife killed in traffic crash, sheriff's office says. Court records show English admitted to the ATF that, since January 2021, she had illegally sold 15 to 20 firearms. English also said that most of these illegal transactions were local. However, she traveled to New Jersey to sell several guns she purchased in Charlotte. English pleaded guilty to trafficking in firearms without a license on October 31, 2023. English is currently free on bond and will be ordered to surrender to the federal government. English pleaded guilty to trafficking in firearms without a license on October 31, 2023. English is currently free on bond and will be ordered to surrender to the Federal Bureau of Prisons following designation of a federal facility.
