Woman charged in stabbing at Orlando homeless shelter

ORLANDO, Florida – A woman arrested Thursday by Orlando police is accused of stabbing another woman at the Christian Service Center on West Central Boulevard.

Simarria Thomas, 22, is charged with battery and aggravated battery with a weapon causing great bodily injury, booking records show.

Thomas' arrest affidavit includes witness statements that allege she was seen attacking the victim before being grabbed and pulled away from the fight by a bystander, then leaving and returning with a knife that she used to stab the victim in the upper neck and upper right shoulder before walking to the front of the nonprofit and getting into a car that drove away.

The victim told police the neck injury was just a small cut, but the shoulder injury required stitches, according to the affidavit.

Police eventually made contact with Thomas, who told officers that she and the victim had gotten into a physical fight and that she was upset because her boyfriend was “holding her down” and letting the other woman attack her.

Thomas is being held without bail at the Orange County Jail.
