Woman arrested for two counts of burglary in Chico | News

CHICO, California. – A woman was arrested Wednesday on two counts of burglary in Chico, Chico police said.

On June 5, around 8:50 a.m., dispatch received a report of a burglary in the 2500 block of Esplanade, police said. The victim said she woke up to an unknown person inside the house.

When the suspect was discovered, they left the home with some of the victim's belongings, police said. Police searched the area and were unable to locate the suspect.

Then a few hours later, around 11:30 a.m., dispatch received another report of a burglary in the 2000 block of Godman Avenue, police said. The reporter, who was not at home, said he saw an unknown person trying to open the doors of homes in the area via security cameras, police said.

The suspect entered a home and left the property before police arrived, police said. Officers then reviewed surveillance footage and said the suspect appeared to be the same person from the previous burglary call on the Esplanade.

Then, around 1:20 p.m., while patrolling the area of ​​Esplanade and East Avenue, officers found a person matching the description of the suspect involved in the previous burglaries, police said.

Officers contacted the person and identified her as Laura Lee Gray, 60, police said.

Gray was later arrested on two counts of burglary and some of the stolen property was recovered, police said.
