Woman Arrested for Alleged Battery of Husband Over School Reunion Plans

A local woman was arrested Friday after allegedly attacking and injuring her husband, 69, because he wanted to go to his high school reunion.

Caroline Faye Herren, 65, who lists an address on Oakwood Avenue, was arrested at her home around 1:30 p.m. and charged with one count of second-degree domestic battery, punishable by up to to 10 years in prison.

Herren, who reports no criminal history, was initially held on $5,000 bond but appeared Monday in Garland County District Court where her bond was changed to $2,500 and an order of court order was issued prohibiting her from any contact with her husband. As of Tuesday, Herren remained in custody.

According to the probable cause affidavit, shortly after 1 p.m., Hot Springs Police Officer Nathan Thomas went to the residence regarding a disturbance and made contact with the victim, who reported having an altercation with his wife, identified as Herren, around 11 a.m. :45h

He said he and Herren argued over his desire to go to his high school reunion and that she allegedly said he “would be in jail” before he could go. He told her he would go to the meeting without her and she turned around and punched him in the face.

The man told Thomas that his wife punched and slapped him in the face about 15 times as he tried to block the blows with his forearms. Thomas noted the man had “a long laceration” with dried blood on his neck.

When asked about the injury, the man said he thought it was caused by his wife's fingernails or one of the rings she wore. He said that after she stopped hitting him, he pulled her away from him and she fell to the ground.

Officers made contact with Herren inside the residence and she was taken into custody and charged with more serious battery due to the victim's age at the time of the incident.
