Woman arrested following fatal stabbing incident in Bronx: NYPD

THE BRONX, NY (PIX11) — A woman faces murder charges following a fatal stabbing in the Bronx on Sunday, according to the New York Police Department.

The assault occurred in a NYCHA housing development on Watson Avenue.

Police say the suspect, Mirda Degracia, 52, called 911 around 9:50 a.m.

Degracia claimed he stabbed a person in the chest after a man broke into his home, police said.

Responding officers found the victim, Reynaldo Luna, 63, with five stab wounds to the chest and additional stab wounds to the neck, officials said. He was transported to Jacobi Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:26 a.m.

Sometime after the attack, Degracia called Luna's relatives in the Dominican Republic, saying, “I killed your brother-in-law” and sent them a photo of his body, police said.

Police say Degracia has no prior record and this is his first arrest. There were no previous domestic incidents between Degracia and Luna, who were partners.
