Woman arrested after man dies from knife wounds east of downtown Fort Wayne | Police/Firefighters

A 47-year-old woman was arrested today after a man was fatally stabbed east of downtown Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne police responded to a call around 2:10 a.m. in the 1400 block of Fletcher Avenue and found a man suffering from a stab wound.

“Medics arrived and attempted to provide life-saving treatment to the victim, who ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” Public Information Officer Officer Daniel Nerzig said in a news release.

Yvonne Broadnax was identified as a suspect and taken into custody near the scene.

His charges were pending as of 11 a.m., the release said. However, online inmate records at the Allen County Jail indicate her preliminary charge is murder. Formal charges will be determined by the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.

She was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for a parole violation, according to the release.

The incident is ongoing with the Fort Wayne Police Department and the District Attorney's Office.

The Allen County Coroner's Office is expected to identify the victim after an autopsy and notify his family. The office will also release the cause and manner of death.
