Woman arrested after man attacked in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Providence police arrested a woman following an alleged assault on Federal Hill that they say involved a cinder block and a high-heeled shoe.

According to a spokesperson for the city of Providence, police were called to the 200 block of Atwells Avenue for a person bleeding from the head.


When police arrived on scene, they found the victim disoriented and unsure who had attacked him.

Surveillance video given to police by Opa Restaurant showed a woman, later identified as Ashley Soto Morales, 31, verbally arguing with the victim as she attempted to back out of a parking space .

At some point during the altercation, two unknown men began hitting the victim in the head.

Investigators later said “Morales then struck the victim in the head with his high-heeled shoe and struck him in the face with a cinder block.”

The victim then appears to have lost consciousness and has injuries to the head and face.

Morales was identified by a passerby and arrested.

The victim was transported to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment.

Providence Police, BCI and detectives are investigating this incident.
