Woman and man arrested after cocaine found in cheeseburger, sheriff's office says

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman and man were arrested Tuesday after a bag of cocaine was found inside a cheeseburger, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Tuesday, deputies said officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of ​​Rose Street and Woodland Avenue. During the check, officers found fentanyl, cocaine, marijuana and two firearms.

The driver of the vehicle, De Anthonie Taylor, 23, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule II controlled substance,
  • Maintain a controlled substance vehicle,
  • Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance,
  • and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The passenger in the vehicle, Brianna Smith, 23, was also arrested and charged with:

  • Possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance,
  • Possession of cocaine,
  • Carrying a concealed weapon,
  • and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Taylor was taken before the Lee County Magistrate and was given no bond and has since released himself. Smith also received no bond, but was later given a $50,000 bond.
