Woman and her 4-year-old daughter dead after Florida Turnpike shooting in Hollywood: police

FORT LAUDERDALE — A woman and her 4-year-old daughter are dead after an apparent shooting on the Florida Turnpike in Hollywood Friday evening.

On Saturday afternoon, the Broward County Sheriff's Office identified the woman as Beatrice Saintvil and the girl as her daughter.

Shortly after 11:50 p.m., the Florida Highway Patrol was called to a shooting in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike near mile marker 49, just south of Hollywood Boulevard. According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred around 11:14 p.m., approximately 35 minutes before the incident was reported.

When troopers arrived, they found Saintvil and her daughter suffering from gunshot wounds in a car parked in the left breakdown lane, BSO told CBS News Miami.

Hollywood Fire Rescue then responded to the scene and transported Saintvil to a local hospital, where she died. Unfortunately, his daughter was pronounced dead at the scene, BSO added.

At the request of the FHP, the BSO Homicide Unit was called to the scene and is currently investigating the incident.
