Woman and dog saved from Murfreesboro flames

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — A woman and a dog were rescued from an apartment fire in Murfreesboro Thursday night.

The fire happened at the Park Place Apartments in the 500 block of North Maple Street around 11 p.m.


Murfreesboro police say a disabled woman was rescued from the burning apartment. Everyone else in the apartment and two adjacent units were able to escape on their own.

No injuries were reported.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and prevented it from spreading to other units, authorities said.

The apartment on fire suffered significant damage and is habitable. Residents will be accommodated with other family members. Two neighboring homes were damaged by smoke, but families can remain there.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by investigators from the MFRD Fire Marshal's Office.

No further information was immediately released.
