Woman accused of stabbing, killing 3-year-old in Ohio says she was previously killed in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) – A woman accused of murdering a child outside a Cleveland, Ohio, supermarket says she has killed before – in Bakersfield.

Bionca Ellis is accused of fatally stabbing a 3-year-old boy outside the supermarket. Ellis faces charges of murder, aggravated murder, attempted murder and more. The 32-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to all seven charges against her at her arraignment Monday.

Police say the motive for the stabbing is unclear and appears to have been a random attack.

Yet according to court records, Ellis told police that a few months ago she killed a woman in Bakersfield and dumped the body in an unknown area, possibly near a river.

Kern County criminal records show Ellis was charged with three misdemeanor counts of battery in late January after she was a patient at Kern Medical, where she allegedly attacked three hospital staff members. Police reports state that Ellis refused to leave the hospital after receiving treatment and that when security tried to remove her, she kicked two security guards and a nurse. No court hearing is scheduled regarding these charges.

As for the possible murder in Bakersfield, Ellis' description to Cleveland police was striking, describing in court records that the victim was a white female, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and 150 pounds, and that she was a bartender or worked in a bar.

17 News contacted Bakersfield police about the alleged murder. A spokesperson said: “Ellis made spontaneous statements, which were passed to our investigators. This information was shared with other investigators to ensure that the information provided did not match the unsolved homicides we were investigating.

Bakersfield police did not have enough evidence to arrest Ellis in a murder case, according to the spokesperson.

“The information does not match any case under active investigation, and at this time, Ellis is not a person of interest nor is he under investigation for any offense.” police said.

Many questions remain, including whether Ellis actually killed anyone in Bakersfield? Is there an unsolved murder that could have been the fault of this accused killer? Does Ellis have an alleged history of spontaneous murders? Bakersfield police say the case involving Ellis in Bakersfield is closed.

Police previously arrested Ellis on allegations of petty theft at an Ohio Walmart, arrested her for a nonviolent crime in Florida, and NBC News spoke to a detective currently working on her case and said that 'there was nothing in his past to suggest. “that she has violent tendencies.”

Ohio prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Ellis for the murder of the 3-year-old from Cleveland.
