Woman accused of shooting gun near home on Riverside Drive

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – A 32-year-old Evansville woman is facing several charges after police say she fired a gun in a neighborhood overnight.

Around 12:45 a.m., Evansville police officers responded to the 100 block of Riverside Drive after a man called 911 to report a vehicle passing by and fired a shot.

The man described the car as a “cube-shaped” white vehicle.

Officers say a short time later, they stopped a white Nissan Cube on Adams Avenue.

According to an affidavit, the driver, Turessa Cook, denied having any weapons inside the vehicle.

Police say they felt the outline of a gun in his left pant leg during a pat-down.

The weapon was reportedly a Charter Arms .38 Special revolver with two spent shell casings inside the cylinder.

Police say Cook has a prior conviction for battery with a deadly weapon.

During a search, police allegedly found a bag of methamphetamine in his pocket.

Police say they also found marijuana in the passenger seat.

Turessa L. Cook, 32, was arrested for criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a violent and serious felon, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

She is being held without bail at the Vanderburgh County Jail.
