A woman who allegedly pointed a gun at a Falls Township police officer was arrested Monday morning in Trenton, authorities said.

Police Lt. Chris Clark confirmed LevittownNow.com that Karen Marie Stevens-Nunez, 47, homeless and previously living in the Bristol borough, was arrested in the Garden State capital around 10 a.m.

Stevens-Nunez was handcuffed without incident and her car is being detained by New Jersey law enforcement, Clark said.

Falls Township and Trenton police were working on obtaining a search warrant for the vehicle, Clark said.

In Bucks County, an arrest warrant was issued Saturday night for Stevens-Nunez on charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, simple assault and driving at an unsafe speed, according to court documents. She will have to be extradited from New Jersey.

According to police, a motorist asked a Falls Township officer to check on a person in the parking lot of Fairless Hills Self Storage on South Oxford Valley Road around 4 p.m. Saturday. The officer encountered Stevens-Nunez sitting in front of an unregistered blue Mitsubishi hatchback.

Police said Stevens-Nunez stood up, reached into the front driver's compartment of the vehicle and pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun. She then turned around and pointed the gun at the officer.

The officer, who feared for his safety, moved away from Stevens-Nunez to create distance, police said.

Using his vehicle's loudspeaker, the officer ordered Stevens-Nunez to drop the weapon, police said.

Stevens-Nunez got into her vehicle and left. The officer activated his vehicle's high beams and siren and gave chase. Despite attempts to stop her, Stevens-Nunez did not stop, police said.

During the chase, Stevens-Nunez was seen handling the gun and, at one point, displayed it in a cardboard box, police said.

The officer lost sight of Stevens-Nunez near the intersection with South Olds Boulevard, police reported.
