FORT SMITH — Police arrested a woman Wednesday in connection with a downtown stabbing incident, according to a police department news release.

Summer Dawn Meeks, 21, homeless from Fort Smith, was being held Wednesday at the Sebastian County Detention Center with no bond set.

Officers responded to a report of a stabbing around 3 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of North Fifth and A streets and found a 58-year-old man had suffered multiple injuries. The man was transported to a local hospital but was unable to provide a statement due to the extent of his injuries at the time of reporting, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing, the press release said.
