Wisconsin woman arrested after altercation led to stabbing with pruning saw

MADISON, Wis. (WFRV) – A Wisconsin woman was taken into custody Tuesday after allegedly stabbing another woman with a Fiskars pruning saw.

According to a statement, officers with the Madison Police Department were dispatched to the area of State Street and West Mifflin Street shortly before 9 p.m. Monday night for a fight involving a knife.

One of the people who reported the incident told police that a woman involved in the fight was bleeding profusely. When Madison police arrived, they found the victim suffering from severe lacerations caused by a stab wound.

While some officers were assisting the victim, others were searching for a suspect, later identified as Alicia Padilla, who fled the scene. The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries and is reportedly in stable condition.

Madison police found a pruning saw nearby and determined it was the weapon Padilla used in the altercation. Officers believe Padilla and the victim know each other and the saw attack was the result of a disagreement between the two.

Padilla went missing overnight, but officers were able to locate and arrest her Tuesday morning. She was booked into the Dane County Jail on the following charges:

  • First degree reckless injury
  • Substantial battery
  • Disorderly conduct with a weapon
  • Bail Jump

According to the release, Padilla was also wanted on a Wisconsin Department of Corrections probation warrant. Wisconsin Circuit Court records show Padilla failed to appear in court on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
