RANDOLPH, Wis. (WFRV) – Authorities in Columbia County are searching for a wanted suspect who allegedly stabbed a person at the Alsum Produce facility.

According to a news release, officers were dispatched to County Highway EF in Randolph shortly before 11:15 p.m. on Monday, June 3, for a stabbing.

As several officers responded, they received information that the suspect, later identified as Oscar Danilo Peralta Rivera, 28, had fled the scene.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital by emergency medical services as his life was in danger.

The Columbia County Sheriff's Office said the vehicle believed to have been used by Rivera to flee the scene was found abandoned on the side of Highway 151 in the city of Columbus.

Deputies searched the area for Rivera using a K-9 and thermal drones, but were unsuccessful.

During the investigation, detectives learned that Rivera knew the victim through a well-known woman. Initial investigation shows this was a targeted attack and there appears to be no ongoing danger to the public.

Deputies say Rivera is known to have ties to the DeForest, Sun Prairie and Marshall areas. This investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
