COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) – A Winnsboro man has been sentenced to more than three years in prison after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a felon, the Justice Department says.

Evidence presented in court showed that on May 30, 2021, a Cayce Department of Public Safety officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Juawn Robertson’s vehicle.

Law enforcement says Robertson did not stop and continued driving, eventually stalling in the parking lot of a local restaurant.

He then fled his vehicle and officers caught him.

After officers arrested Robertson, they reviewed dashcam footage from the traffic stop that recorded him throwing a bag during his encounter with law enforcement.

Officers recovered the bag, which they believe contained a loaded firearm.

Robertson has previous convictions for possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine, distribution of crack cocaine, distribution of cocaine and assault and battery.nd degree.

Investigators say all of those prior convictions prohibit him from owning firearms.

The 39-year-old man was sentenced up to 40 months in prison, followed by a three-year court-ordered supervision period.
