NEW DELHI: The political fallout over the alleged paper leak in NEET-UG exams continues with Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh on Thursday criticizing the Centre, saying that even though Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds his event every year “Pareeksha pe Charcha”, his government “can’t even conduct a review without leaks and fraud.

Ramesh highlighted two specific cases: the NEET UG 2024 exam, which faces serious questions acknowledged by the Education Minister, and the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam just a day after it was held. Ramesh expressed doubts about the integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA).

“The NEET UG 2024 exam faces very serious questions that even the Education Minister has been forced to acknowledge. The integrity of the National Testing Agency (NTA) is in serious doubt,” the secretary said General of Congress in a message on X (formerly Twitter). .

Ramesh also questioned the Prime Minister's education, calling him a “master's degree in complete political science” and challenging him to address the issue of exam leaks, saying: “Is he going to a day “to flee or to speak?”


The Education Department has sought a detailed report from the Economic Offenses Unit of the Bihar Police regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET (UG) 2024 exam conducted in Patna. The ministry reiterated its willingness to take strict action against any person or organization involved in this matter.

The Supreme Court also asked the Center and the NTA to thoroughly investigate and address any negligence in the conduct of the NEET-UG exam, 2024. Several petitions have been filed in the apex court, seeking recall of NEET-UG 2024 results and re-examination due to allegations of paper leaks, malpractices and anomalies in the question paper.
