Wildfire near Banning spreads to 34 acres; Cal Fire says no new growth

A wildland fire broke out on ranch land south of Banning and had spread to 34 acres by mid-afternoon Saturday, according to Cal Fire. But it doesn't seem like it continued to grow.

The agency said the fire broke out around noon on land near the intersection of Idyllwild Road and Shirleon Drive.

This intersection is located about a half-mile south of the Banning city limits and two miles south of Interstate 10. It is dotted with ranch properties and detached homes, but Cal Fire has not said whether structures had suffered damage or were threatened.

Cal Fire said in an article on About an hour earlier, Cal Fire estimated its size at 10 acres.
