Those who need to evacuate can head to the 6th Street Gym, located in the 100 block of East 6th, according to the sheriff's office.

The Willis Gulch trailhead is closed due to the fire. Camping is not allowed on the east side of Twin Lakes and around the Interlaken trailhead, according to the USFS.

The USFS ordered a Type Three helicopter to help fight the fire.

Buildings in the historic district of Interlaken are not at risk thanks to firefighters on site who ensured the protection of the structures, the sheriff's office said. Firefighters will remain on site throughout the night.
