Wife and daughter identified as victims of fatal Springfield stabbings

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A spouse and 19-year-old daughter have been identified as victims of a fatal stabbing on Marion Street where the husband was arrested.

Springfield police were called to Marion Street around 11:25 a.m. Sunday for a domestic disturbance. When they arrived, the police discovered two women and a man suffering from stab wounds. Both women died during the incident and the man was transported to Baystate Medical Center with serious injuries.

The Hampden County Prosecutor's Office identified the victims as the suspect's 39-year-old wife. Ruwaida Salamat from Springfield and her 19 year old daughter Nour Al Khérat of Springfield.

The suspect, Osama Al Kherat, was arrested and arraigned Monday in Springfield District Court on two counts of murder and one count of armed assault to murder. A not guilty plea has been entered on his behalf and he will be held without the right to bail. His next court appearance will be June 17.

The Springfield Homicide Unit and the Hampden District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.
