Who was Osman Said Jimale?

Initial reports suggested that two people died in the shooting and that two officers from the Minneapolis Police Department were also shot. However, it was not initially revealed that a police officer was among the victims who died in the shooting, alongside two civilians. One of the two civilians was identified as Osman Said Jimale. The Hennepin County medical examiner reportedly identified the victim as Osman Said Jimale, a 32-year-old Minneapolis man.

Furthermore, several people were reportedly injured during the shooting, but three people, including a police officer, were declared dead at the scene. The cause of death was also confirmed as fatal gunshot wounds. Speaking about the circumstances surrounding the mass shooting, it occurred in the 2200 block of Blaisdell Avenue South on Thursday evening around 5:15 p.m. First, police were notified of shots fired at that location . Minneapolis police quickly responded to the scene and began assisting injured people at the scene. While assisting civilians at the scene, a Minneapolis Police Department office, identified as Jamal Mitchell, was shot and injured. Later, Jamal Mitchell was also shot multiple times by the gunman. In an attempt to save the life of police officer Jamal Mitchell, he was rushed to a nearby hospital, but he could not survive the fatal gunshot wounds and died.

After shooting numerous people, leaving them injured and some dead as well, the shooter was also shot and killed by Minneapolis police. The shooter also allegedly got into an altercation with police and exchanged gunfire before being killed at the scene. Preliminary reports also suggest that the accused was ramming into a man on a scooter when police arrived at the scene. Upon hearing the gunshots, the victim also tried to flee by hitting the shooter with his car before police arrived.

Osman Said Jimale, found dead while police were checking an apartment where the incident began, was a 32-year-old man who died from multiple gunshot wounds. Osman Said Jimale is believed to have lived in this apartment. Another person was found outside the apartment suffering from a gunshot wound inside a car. However, the person found in a car outside Osman Said Jimale's alleged apartment has been admitted to hospital and is receiving treatment for his injuries.

A Minneapolis Firefighter was also injured, but is out of danger and receiving treatment at a hospital. Before the shooting, the victim reportedly witnessed the violence when a man on a scooter was struck by the suspect. Hearing the gunshots, the driver called Minneapolis police and fled the scene. The name of the suspect has not yet been released. An investigation is still underway.
