Whitehouse man sentenced to 55 years in prison for stabbing his mother in 2021

Before officers arrived on scene, dispatch received a second call from the victim and reportedly told authorities that her son had stabbed her and stolen her Honda CRV. When officers arrived, they took her to a local hospital where she was considered to be in critical condition.

Tyler Police Department officers located the car on Golden Road and stopped it. The driver was arrested and later identified as Carson Aaron Epifano, 26 of Whitehouse, and son of the victim.

Authorities said the mother, Bernice Slabaugh, 60, later died from her injuries.
