Where is he? Suspect identified and sought in shooting death of store owner

LEESBURG — Leesburg police have identified a suspect in the shooting death of a convenience store owner Friday evening.

Alex Lopez, 25, of Wildwood, is wanted for premeditated murder, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm during a felony.

The police department is working with local, state and federal authorities to locate and arrest Lopez.

Authorities are asking anyone who knows his whereabouts to call the Leesburg Police Department at (352) 787-2121 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS (8477). Crimeline callers may be eligible for a reward.

Surveillance video captured the moment the killer ran into the M&M Market on Picciola Road and shot Raied Shihadeh, 51, who was leaning back in a chair and talking to his wife on Facetime.

There were clear images of the suspect's face, despite the fact that he was wearing a scarf on his head.

The video showed Shihadeh clutching his torso, falling forward and crawling toward the front of the store as the shooter pointed his handgun at his victim or fired, and ultimately shot the man again directly behind the counter.

The killer then ran behind the counter to grab some money and then fled out the door.
