Where brush fires are reported in Central Florida

Channel 9 is monitoring several brush fires burning in Central Florida this weekend.

Update:

Volusia County firefighters said the fire in Osteen grew to 250 acres Saturday, which originated from last week's 600-acre fire.

It is 25% contained and people can spot fires up to 300 meters from the main fire.

Volusia County firefighters said the main problem was high winds coming from the east.

Crews are opening Pell Road so residents can return home.

They also work the containment lines at night.

Fire crews will check and burn anything that has not burned within these lines. Residents should expect more fires and smoke as this occurs.

Residents are being told that visibility will be very poor overnight.

Drive slowly, stay indoors, and don't light fires.

The winds calmed and conditions improved slightly, but enough for them to do these burns.

Police had asked residents to avoid the area near the south side, as well as bus stops.
