What's missing from Aaron Rodgers' legacy as he enters his 20th NFL season

Aaron Rodgers is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in NFL history. He won a Super Bowl, made 10 Pro Bowls, earned four MVP and All-Pro honors and ranks ninth on the NFL's all-time passing yards list and fifth on the passing touchdowns list.

There's not much Rodgers has to accomplish to win a loss in Canton, even though he's entering his 20th NFL season and second with the New York Jets.

Still, one current Hall of Fame quarterback doesn't believe Rodgers' legacy is complete. Former Rams and Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner told Jomboy Media this week that Rodgers can't be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time unless he reaches at least one more Super Bowl .

“Aaron is one of the best quarterbacks our league has ever seen,” Warner said. “But he doesn't engage in the 'bigger' conversation until he gets to another Super Bowl.”

Warner added that Rodgers' ability to come back from a serious injury and play at a high level on a new team would also put him in an exclusive category, similar to how Warner took the Cardinals to the Super Bowl in 2008. Warner waited seven hours. years between his Super Bowl appearances after joining the Rams in 1999 and 2001. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2017.

Rodgers, meanwhile, hasn't returned since the Packers hoisted the Lombardi Trophy in 2010. However, Rodgers has won four MVP awards and has played in 16 playoff games since his first and most recent Super Bowl.

That's a harsh assessment of Rodgers' career, mainly because it's doubtful the Hall voting committee cares whether or not Rodgers wins another ring. Warner is one of several NFL quarterbacks with one or fewer Super Bowl titles, and the only players ahead of Rodgers statistically are either already in the Hall of Fame or will be once they become eligible.

The Jets, however, surely want Rodgers to at least make the playoffs during his time in New York. The Jets haven't made the playoffs in 13 years — the NFL's longest active drought — and haven't been to the Super Bowl since they won it with Joe Namath in 1968. Rodgers hasn't even didn't make it past Week 1. in his first year with the Jets after tearing his Achilles tendon on opening night.

Rodgers' legacy will likely remain intact even if he never returns to the Super Bowl. But another appearance and even another ring would certainly push Rodgers closer to the top of the pile when it comes to discussing the league's all-time greatest quarterbacks.
