Where and when?

Oakland County deputies first learned of a shooting at 10:52 p.m. on Friday, May 31.

The shooting happened at a business in Huron Plaza, located in the 700 block of West Huron Street in Pontiac.

Filming scene

When police arrived, they said they immediately noticed several bullet holes in the front of a business.

There were spent shell casings in the street and several cars parked in the business parking lot had been hit by gunfire.

Officers entered the business and found a loaded assault rifle-style magazine, as well as several shell casings.

2 people injured

When police entered the building, they first encountered a 23-year-old Pontiac man holding an AR-style rifle.

Officers said they told the man to drop the gun, and he complied.

The man had been shot in the back. He was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for a minor injury, and is listed as stable.

As they ventured into a room at the back of the building, police found another 23-year-old Pontiac man. That man was also shot in the back, but his injury was much more serious, authorities said.

He was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Drugs found in building

Police said they found “a large quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia” inside the business.

They said the drugs were scattered around the building “in plain view.”

Investigators believe the business was used as an after-hours meeting place.

Suspected shooter arrested

As police investigated the shooting, they identified a 28-year-old Pontiac man as a suspect.

The man was taken into custody without incident. He is being held at the Oakland County Jail and charges are pending.

A drug scale, baggies and marijuana were found in the man's car, police said.
