What We Know About Netflix's New Harlan Coben Series, Missing You

Building on the success of Michelle Keegan's hit limited series Fool Me Once, Netflix will once again delve into the world of author Harlan Coben by adapting his mystery thriller Missing You.

The series marks the first of the streamer's two-pronged approach to adapting Coben's literary world to their streaming screens, with his missing children drama, Run Away, next on their to-do list.

However, before that one arrives, audiences will get to lose themselves in a new puzzle with an all-star cast about a woman whose missing husband makes an unexpected return.

Missing You currently doesn't have a release date but filming took place in early 2024, so perhaps we'll see the series land on Netflix later this year or early 2025.

Unfortunately, there is no trailer for Missing You yet. However, with more actors confirmed to appear, our first look at the series can't be too far away.

Produced by ITV's Quay Street Productions, Missing You will span five episodes directed by Sean Spencer. It was written by Death in Paradise scribe Victoria Asare-Archer.

Swapping locations from the United States to the north of England, Netflix's adaptation of Missing You tells an edge-of-your-seat mystery thriller full of twists and turns.

The show follows Kat Donovan, a police detective whose fiancé Josh suddenly disappears without a trace. However, when he randomly appears a decade later, solving the mystery of his disappearance and sudden reappearance draws Donavan into a case with unlikely ties to his own history.

According to the series' official synopsis, “Josh's reappearance will force [Kat] delving back into the mystery surrounding his father's murder and uncovering long-buried secrets from his past.

The series was filmed in Bolton and Manchester city center in early 2024.

Rosalind Eleazar, perhaps best known to audiences for her role in the Apple TV+ hit Slow Horses, plays the lead role of Detective Donovan, the cop forced to fight the reappearance of her long-lost fiancé.

Speaking of which, Top Boy's Ashley Walters will play Josh, his MIA partner. Together, they'll be joined by a star-studded cast of solid British acting talent and while we know the names of those they play, we don't have too many details on how these characters fit into the Corben's broader story.

The Hobbit's James Nesbitt will play Calligan, with his Middle Earth co-star Richard Armitage as Ellis Stagger. Keeping things Tolkien, Rings of Power season 1 star Lenny Henry will join them as Clint Donovan with Inside No 9's Steve Pemberton playing a character named Titus.

Love is Blind's Matt Jay-Willis plays Darryl, with EastEnders' Jessica Plummer as Stacey, Game of Thrones' Paul Kaye as Monte, Samantha Spiro as a nurse named Sally and Lisa Faulkner as the role of Dana.

Mary Malone and Alice Offley will also appear throughout the series' five episodes.

Armitage, who has appeared in all of Corben's adaptations thus far, recently told Yahoo some riddles about his role in Missing You. “I play a DCI… he's a little more inverted character than the previous ones because we're very, very uncertain of his motivations at the beginning.

“So his essence is harmful, but in reality he keeps a secret that has a noble cause. This doesn't reveal much.

Missing You by Harlan Coben is coming to Netflix soon.
