What to know about Northern California's weekend red flag warning

SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AND THE RISK OF GRASSFIRES INCREASES DURING PART OF THE WEEKEND. Let's give the floor to meteorologist Heather Waldman to explain. YEAH, WE'RE SPECIFICALLY TALKING ABOUT SUNDAY. AND REALLY, THE OPPORTUNITY IS GOING TO BE THE WEST SIDE OF THE SACRAMENTO VALLEY AND IN PARTS OF THE COASTAL HILLS. THE CONCERN WILL BE A LITTLE NORTH WIND WHICH WILL DEVELOP LATE SATURDAY NIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY MORNING. THIS WILL DECREASE THE HUMIDITY AND FURTHER DRY THE HERBS. OF COURSE WE ARE WELL INTO GRASSFIRE SEASON THROUGHOUT THE VALLEY AND SOME OF THE LOWER FOOTHILLS. WE SHOULD ALREADY BE AWARE OF THIS GRASS FIRE RISK, BUT BECAUSE THE BREEZE IS GOING TO BRING BACK A LITTLE SUNDAY, THAT'S WHERE WE SEE THE RED FLAG WARNING FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HERE. THIS WAS ISSUED EARLIER THIS AFTERNOON. NOTICE THE CITIES THAT ARE INCLUDED HERE. AREAS OF COLUSA WOODLAN VACAVILLE ALONG AND JUST WEST OF I-5. ALSO A SMALL AREA HERE IN LAKE COUNTY INCLUDING THE CLEAR LAKE LAKE AREA. This is where we also see this potential for some grass fires. SACRAMENTO THE SIERRA CONTRILLONS ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RED FLAG WARNING, BUT STILL, IT IS TIME TO BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU MOW WHERE YOU MOW. As you just heard Lisa say, those metal blades can easily start a fire, as can driving or parking on some of those dry grasses. BUT THIS WEEKEND IT’S REALLY GOING TO BE NICE. NEAR 90 SATURDAY FOR SACRAMENTO WITH LOTS OF SUN. BREE COMFORTABLE MORNING
