LUBBOCK, Texas — A Lubbock Police Department report Friday revealed more information about what led to a stabbing at a restaurant in the 3200 block of 4th Street before a SWAT raid at a nearby apartment complex.

A redacted report obtained by EverythingLubbock.com states that on June 21, officers were called to Blue Sky at 12:46 p.m. Multiple people called police and said a Blue Sky employee had stabbed another employee. When officers arrived, several Texas Forest Service employees were providing first aid to the victim.

According to the report, the stabbing happened in the restaurant's kitchen. The victim told police she brought a dish to Eddie Casias, 18, who seemed “visibly upset.” According to the report, the victim told police he asked Casias if he was OK. The victim said Casias responded with something like, “What is that supposed to mean?” »

The victim told Casias he was just making sure he was okay and returned to his workstation. According to the report, the victim told police that the next thing she knew, Casias was “rushing him with a kitchen knife.” The report states the victim was stabbed at least three times.

According to Lyme police, Casias ran from the restaurant to his apartment in the 200 block of Indiana Avenue. When officers arrived at his apartment, Casias refused to come out. SWAT and negotiators responded to the scene and were able to convince Casias to leave his apartment.

Casias was taken into custody at 3:16 p.m., according to police. Casias was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and taken to the Lubbock County Detention Center. As of Friday, Casias remained jailed on $75,000 bail.

According to the report, the victim was awake and in stable condition when she spoke to police at the hospital.
