Westchester man convicted of sexually assaulting two teenagers

WHITE PLAINS – A Port Chester man was sentenced to 15 years in state prison for sexually assaulting two teenagers in separate attacks in Rye.

Richard Olmino, 22, pleaded guilty April 1 to the crimes of criminal sexual act and sexual abuse.

He was also sentenced to 20 years of post-release supervision and required to register as a sex offender.

On June 23, 2023, around midnight, Olmino sought help from a 16-year-old girl who was jogging in Rye Town Park. He then took her phone and threw her at the adult as she tried to run away. He then told the victim he had a knife before sexually assaulting her.

A park security guard interrupted the attack, causing Olmino to flee. The police recovered his mobile phone from the spot.

DNA evidence from the incident linked it to a separate incident on June 3, 2023 on Parsons Street in Rye. Around 1:35 a.m. that morning, he approached an 18-year-old woman who was walking home from a post-prom party, asked her for help, then took her cell phone and threatened her before sexually assaulting her.

The Rye City police officer arrested Olimo at his Port Chester home on June 25, 2023, after police, with assistance from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety and the Westchester Safe Streets Task Force of the FBI, used his cell phone to identify and locate him.

Olimo, who is the subject of two open arrest warrants in Connecticut, including one for public indecency, and a pending criminal case in Suffolk County, remains in pretrial detention at the Westchester County Jail since his arrest.
