Timothy Riley, 41, robbed Main Street Variety in Buxton on June 7 and Gorham Savings Bank in Waterboro on Wednesday, the York County Sheriff's Office said.

Riley entered the Main Street Variety with a handgun and demanded the clerk give him the cash drawer, the sheriff's office said. Police have not revealed how much money he stole. He fled the store in a car registered in New Hampshire.

In their pursuit of Riley, Buxton police officers found the vehicle abandoned on a railroad track. On Wednesday, Riley robbed the Waterboro bank around 1 p.m., York County Sheriff William L. King Jr. said. Several employees and a customer were in the bank at the time of the robbery, but no one was injured .

The thief received an undisclosed amount and left.

The Buxton Police Department then deployed a K-9 unit, with assistance from the sheriff's office and Maine State Police. Following the Waterboro robbery, law enforcement found Riley on a dirt bike in Hollis. After Riley fled, police found evidence, including a handgun, in the woods where Riley was last seen.

“It currently appears that the two robberies are similar,” the York County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on Facebook.

The driver of the vehicle eventually crashed on Mary Jane Road in Buxton, and two occupants, including Riley, were cornered on foot by officers.

Officers were then able to stop and arrest Riley around 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. Riley was charged with two counts of robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, eluding officers and violation of probation.

The York County Sheriff's Office also identified a second suspect. Police are now looking for Kyle Allman, 37, of Hollis. The sheriff's office is asking people who know Allman's location to alert authorities. The sheriff's office did not say whether Allman was the second occupant of the vehicle or what his connection was to the thefts.
