West Sacramento home shooting leaves woman dead, police say

A man is accused of shooting and killing a woman Wednesday night, the West Sacramento Police Department said. A juvenile told officers that a woman was shot by her boyfriend around 10 p.m. at a home at Bridge Place and Touchstone Place, police said. When the police approached the house, a man came out. Police said after arresting the man, officers entered the garage and found the woman, who had a gunshot wound to her upper back. The police tried to treat her until medical personnel arrived, and she was sent to hospital where she later died. The man also suffered a gunshot wound to his left foot, but police have not released details on whether the injury was self-inflicted or during a struggle between him and the woman. Officers also found a firearm hidden in a nearby bush, police said. The man was medically cleared and sent to the Yolo County Jail, police said. They identified him as Demond Jones.
