West Licking Joint Fire District Opens New Taylor Road Fire Station

The West Licking Joint Fire District has opened a new $7 million fire station on Taylor Road, replacing a makeshift station the department was short of three spaces converted into a storage facility on Taylor Road since 2016.

Marshall Berry, a firefighter based at the station, said the difference between the two stations is drastic. Firefighters have almost everything, a fully equipped kitchen, more bunk space, and designated storage space for medical supplies and equipment.

“Everything is better,” he said. “It would be like going from an apartment to having your own house.”

The district purchased the 10.5-acre site in May 2021 from the city of Reynoldsburg for $1. The district then spent months planning and designing the new station before work began in August 2022. The station was then operational in January.
