Welcome Officer Mastro to the Force: Oneida County Sheriff's Office Introduces New K-9 to Public | Community






YORKVILLE, NY — The Oneida County Sheriff's Office just welcomed a new hire, ready to detect a crime.

An introduction of the new K-9 took place Tuesday morning at Mastrovito Hyundai in Yorkville.

The sheriff's office showed the public K-9 Officer Mastro, named by the Mastrovito family.

The car dealership contributed $9,000 toward the dog's purchase.

Frank Mastrovito, owner of Mastrovito Hyundai, said, “Supporting our local law enforcement is a top priority for us. lives at stake every day to keep us safe. »

Mastrovito's donation was used to purchase the “15-month-old purebred German Shepherd from Shallow Creek Kennels in Pennsylvania,” a post on the sheriff's office Facebook page said.

“Deputies Dorr and Mastro are currently in an active training program to become certified. Mastro will eventually be certified in patrol and narcotics detection,” a release states.

Over the next two days, the sheriff's office will introduce two more dogs.
